Blender developers successfully completed its new well debugged stable version 2.49a.
Blender is a freeware 3d computer graphics software, which includes modeling, animation and rendering tools, facilities for video postprocessing and creation of interactive games.
Now designing of new 2.5 program release is in progress.
Changes in version 2.49a:
- Game Engine support of multiple video texture threads for interactive playback in environment.
- Added Real-time Dome rendering for visualization of interactive projects within the environment dome
- General Game Engine speed greatly increased, including time of Bullet physics initialization
- Bullet library extended and now includes new 6dof constraints and real-time editable limits, motors, springs to create physics-based vehicles
- Support of modifiers in Game Engine, that don't obligate their applying before game run
- Game logic improved, namely: improved stability and completeness of python API, completed documentation
- Node edition support by Blender Textures for procedural textures creation
- Support of projection painting on model
- Boolean modifier improved to apply it to any stack level
- Complete support of new high quality JPEG2000 format with alpha-channel, HDR color up to 16 bit per channel
- New scripts and tools added, such as Landscape and Bolt, import/export fixed and updated. 300 scripts are now available for free downloading
- Lots of insignificant features added, bugs fixed
